• Email address — when you sign up for notifications or submit a newsletter, you provide your email. We store this to send you relevant updates and confirmations.
• Newsletter submission data — if you submit a newsletter, we collect the newsletter name, URL, description, category, and your email address.
• Spotlight slot enquiries — if you enquire about an advertising slot, we collect your name, email, newsletter details, and payment information processed by our payment provider.

Information collected automatically:

• Anonymous fingerprint — we generate a random identifier stored in your browser (localStorage) to track your saves and likes across sessions without requiring an account. This identifier is not linked to any personal information.
• Approximate region — when you save, like, or click a newsletter, we log a coarse, approximate location (country and city) derived from your network connection. We do not log your exact IP address or precise location. This is used only to show creators an aggregate view of which regions their readers come from — never to identify individual visitors.
• Click events — when you click to visit a newsletter, we log the newsletter ID and your anonymous fingerprint.
• Save events — when you save a newsletter, we record which newsletter was saved and your anonymous fingerprint.

2. How we use your information

• To send you email confirmations when you submit a newsletter or sign up for notifications
• To send you updates about new newsletters (if you opted in)
• To process spotlight slot payments and send payment confirmations
• To calculate newsletter rankings based on community saves, clicks, and likes
• To send slot expiry reminders to advertisers
• To show creators an aggregate, anonymized view of which regions their engagement comes from
• To improve the leaderboard and understand which niches are most popular

3. Data sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only in the following limited circumstances:

• Payment processing — payment details are handled by PayPal, not stored by us directly.
• Email delivery — we use Resend to send transactional emails. Your email address is shared with Resend for this purpose.
• Database hosting — data is stored on Supabase servers in secure, encrypted cloud infrastructure.
• Legal requirements — we may disclose information if required by law.

4. Data retention

• Email addresses are retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion.
• Newsletter submission data is retained as long as the newsletter is listed.
• Anonymous save and click data is retained indefinitely as aggregate statistics.
• Spotlight slot records are retained for 12 months after expiry for accounting purposes.

5. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
• Withdraw consent for email communications at any time by replying "unsubscribe" to any email we send

6. Cookies and local storage

We use browser localStorage (not cookies) to store your anonymous fingerprint and list of saved tools. This data stays in your browser and is not sent to our servers except when performing save/unsave actions. You can clear this data at any time by clearing your browser storage.

We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels.

7. Children's privacy

savd.site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will note the date of the last update at the top of this page. Continued use of savd.site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
